Three Generations

Choreography by Drew Lewis
Performed by the House of DOV dancers
with Live Music by Max Lazarus

Made in reverence to the lineage of women in Lewis’ family, the work explores the paradoxical ways in which the artist feels both included in and excluded from the nesting doll of womanhood. Three Generations is a portrait, wrapping itself in ancestry, in things handed down: stories, artifacts, and genes.

Originally commissioned by Ionit Behar, DePaul Art Museum in conjunction to Barbara Nessim’s My Compass is a Line.
